Cabaret - The Illustrated Book and Lyrics

Published by flit at 4:38 pm under Reviews Edit This

Oh, you should buy this book!

I have never, ever found a play that I really enjoyed reading from a book or script or on a screen. They all feel like work. Even when they are plays I know and love - to read them has always been such a chore.

Until this one! This book is incredible. Beautifully bound, beautiful pictures, large readable text, and the inclusion of all sorts of extra materials (reviews, ads, journal entries, costume sketches, etc, etc.) - it all adds up to an amazing experience… no elements of work involved at all.

I just loved this presentation of the work.

The story, of course, is still disturbing - the rise of Nazism in Germany in the 1930s is not a light-hearted topic, after all.

But this book is, none-the-less, incredible. Definitely a keeper.
